Apple Kyoto

The project

In Kyoto, a façade has to earn its place on the street.

A new Apple store on Shijo Street, Kyoto's historic shopping avenue, designed with Foster + Partners. Its façade takes its cue from the city's paper lanterns, glowing softly as evening falls.
Inside, timber, stone and living trees bring the calm of a Kyoto courtyard to one of the city's busiest streets.

Project: Retail flagship
Location: Shijo Street, Kyoto, Japan
